With gas prices being as they are I'm trying to get my '78 245 running better. Until recently I've taken to keeping it running well enough to get through smog and not burn TOO much gas, but a slightly thinner wallet has changed my feelings a bit.
I've already replaced my injector o-rings and soaked the injectors in carb cleaner overnight. The engine now runs more smoothly and cold starts have greatly improved. This weekend I'm going to replace the vacuum lines, and I'm thinking about using some Seafoam to decarbonize the engine.
I've heard a few stories from people who ran Seafoam through their cars (mostly Datsun Zs) and then began to burn oil. Apparently the crud was keeping everything together.
My car has almost 300k on it. I have about 140 pounds of compression in each cylinder. How likely am I to encounter this problem?
