1985 740 turbo pan leak 700 1985

The pan on the bottom of the transmission leaked when i got it. I replaced the gasket and when i took it out to test and about 5 minutes if that the car had no power to be able to shift or move i pulled into a parking lot and of course i lost like all of my transmission fluid. It seems like pressure built up to cause this how could that be? How do i fix this problem this is my second time getting it fixed the person fixing it is re gasketing it again to see if it works this time.
