oil on rear window 200

Hi, I've noticed some oil spray on the rear window of our '88 245. The transmission oil has been leaking for several months but I never noticed oil on the rear window before. Its hard to tell what kind of oil it is since its a fine mist. I overfilled the transmission oil a week ago looking at the wrong temperature scale on the dipstick. Could a transmission oil leak cause this, specially on a 65mph freeway ride ? I hope I'm not burning oil out the tail pipe that bad.
