Car hesitates during acceleration 200

My 1991 240 is running kind of weird. When the car is running at idle speed, there is an intermittant "miss" that the engine makes. Then once I start to accelerate, the same missing occurs but at a higher frequency...i could also describe it as a hesitation. This only occurs on occasion. So far I have been accelerating through it...but it has me concerned. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks.
