Hp and torque#'s on a A-cam 200

If I put a A-cam on a 1993 240 how will it change my motor? I have heard that it takes away lowend power, is there away once I put it on that I can get some of it back? I dont like runing the engine to hard and like to low rev if you know what I mean.
