Thermostat after thermostat sticks 1800

Over the last ten years, I have replaced my thermostat several times. It's obviously not a big deal to change but it's a pain when the car nearly overheats and leaves you stranded. They always stick. Is there anyone else out there having this problem? What can be done? Who has the best ones? Thanks.
