Wagon rear window wiper motor swap 200 1983

Looks like (and smells,too) ,I burned out the rear wiper motor in son's 83 245 while redoing the wiring for the tailgate.
Junkyards have plenty of 85-on wiper motors. but the linkage is different.
If I take out the entire assembly (motor plus linkage), should I be able to install the 85-on system into the 83 tailgate?
Or should I look for a good 83-84 motor?
