Center bearing question 200 1988

I can move my center driveshaft bearing maybe 1/4" up and down before
further motion is made harder by the rubber surrounding it. The
center bearing also occasionally whined when the temperature went
below 10F or so this winter. Should I replace the thing? - the job
seems like it should be very easy and non-greasy. Should I also
replace the rubber driveshaft joint behind the transmission while
I'm under there? The joint looks like it's in good uncracked shape,
but it is nonetheless 16 years old.

TIA -b.
