I am about to purchase a Hobie Mirage Outback pedal kayak (got one you want to sell??), and am looking at the roof rack on my 240 wagon. It seems as if I could build some nice cradles that are contoured to the hull from wood with some carpet padding. What have others done? I know I could just go spend some bucks and get a Thule or Yakima system, but cheap sounds better to me. I have a full compliment of both wood and metal working tools and all the time in the world (retired...that's when you stop getting paychecks, now that you have time).
