One rear door refuses to lock 700 1986

I noticed over the weekend that the driver's side rear door doesn't lock. The lock knob on top of the door panel moves up and down, but the lock does not engage. All the other locks -- front, passenger side rear and trunk -- all work.

Any suggestions?
