My 1977 Kjet system has been running one only it's main fuel pump since February. I replaced the relay and that didn't seem to help. When I take the filler cap off with it running, it's as silent as a tomb in there.
As long as I don't run the tank down too much, it seems quite happy to just gravity feed into the main pump under the tank, but the main pump is often quite noisy, like having a wasp nest in the back of the car (which I did have at one stage, although the wasps had packed up and left before I found it)
Finanical resources are a bit stretched during term time, and I'm behind enough in my Uni work without spending a weekend taking my fuel system apart. What are the chances of killing the main pump asking it to do the work of two, given that it already sounds strained.
Can I leave this one until I've got time and money to overhaul the fuel system properly (tank level sender, injectors, CPR, thermal time switch and so on), or do I need to adress this before the expensive bit gives out on me?
