hi,
I need some help again from you guys. I am the proud owner of an 1986 245 wagon, that has put me through 22000 miles in the 9 months since I bought it. Still, we have to part company as 1) I am broke 2)a friend of mine needs a commuter car.
Now as I'm selling it, I definitely do not want to rip the lady off, so I promised her to do some minor repairs over the summer to make the car more reliable. I dont want to spend a lot of money, but then again, I want my car to remain what it is now: a reliable, solid Swedish beauty.
Any ideas for some not-so-expensive repairs that would pay off in terms of reliability (not that it is soooo terrible now, except from a fuel pump relay that will be replaced tomorrow)? I already got new engine seals, AC compressor, timing belt, water pump, rear muffler, tailpipe, all around brakes, wiper motor, and some ground wires replaced, not to mention some couple of smaller items I probably already forgot, oh yeah, like a ball joint.
Also, what would be the fair market price if I get any possible hidden issues done? It is a great car and fun to drive, but it has some rust under the doors that will prolly get worse. Its in Western MA.
Thanks for any ideas.
David
