Heater always hot, quick fix? 200 1987

No matter where the heater's temperature lever is set, the air coming out is always hot. I know I'm going to have to change out the heater control valve, but for now, is there a quick way to shut down the heat? I've got to make a long trip tomorrow into some very warm weather and I don't want to be broasted by the time I get there. Thanks for the help guys.
