For some time now, I've been meaning to attempt an idle speed/timing check on my B230F. The engine and its controls are much more complex than I've dealt with previously, so fear was somewhat upon me. I suspected we were idling high and our timing was too far advanced.
I followed the instructions in the Bentley manual exactly, and found that my settings were indeed off, but the car has always run well. I was thus a bit hesitant to change what was working, especially two days before the run to Portland...
Terrified, I adjusted to the specs in the book, and the improvement is TREMENDOUS. The car runs better than ever before, so I thought I'd give Bentley yet another great review. If anyone out there doesn't have this book yet, please purchase it and follow it. It has saved me countless times and many dollars. I'm also finding myself less intimidated by this fine machine we mutually own and love.
Hope to meet some of you at iPd on Saturday,
Brendan.
