Suddenly, I need to find an indy shop - long post 700

I own 4 bricks and have been using a great shop in Chicago's near north suburbs. I had my 945 in because I was losing R134, many recharges (by me) but they had done the original repair work when I bought the wagon, so...

I was told the (original) compressor had failed, and I brought them one I had purchased from FCBGroton - still new in the box. A few hours later, the owner called me and said they no longer would use customer supplied parts (my compressor, they said, didn't fit) and I could pick up my car, and, goodbye. So I have a 945 without ANY installed compressor (I was given a hose they damaged, and paid for one they said was leaking - they were in the car, not installed). Now I have no idea where to have my cars serviced when I get over my head. I still think they are an excellent shop if you just want to give them your car and and have an unlimited budget, but I can't see paying $625 for a compressor vs $225 from Groton, or a steering rack for $600 vs $235 from Groton.

So, I am looking for recommendations for indy shops, who will work with customer parts, on Chicago's north side or northern suburbs. Also, I'd appreciate any comments about the way my car was handled. I didn't include that I offered to pay ALL the labor (including extra time) and OEM parts charges if they would complete the work - the offer was refused. Thanks
