960 Transmission Light 900

The warning light on the dash of my 960 flashes on long trips. It ceases after sitting overnight. The car has 170k miles. It also shifts very quickly from 2nd to 4th when flashing. I assume it is over heating. I've changes the trans oil 2 times over 6 months. When cold the trans works fine. Any ideas on what's the problem and how to fix? Possibly a bad sensor or cooler?
