Smoked Wires 200 1981

Doing some upgrades on the '81 245 glt. Purchased some amber front turn signal lenses and housing from Canada to replace my trashed clear ones. Looked like a straight swap out. Connected all the wires and it looked great.
Opened the driver's door, smelled and saw smoke. Thought it was my cigarette at first. Then I realized thatit wasn't. Turned off key. Looked at fuses and they were all good. Took cover off lens and noticed that the bulb was a different size compared my old one. Smaller bulb but apparently higher amperage. That must have been enough to cook the wire someplace. Now I have to trace it out and find the culprit wire. Will probably install a relay or see if there is 3.5 watt bulub out there with the same base. The other one I think is a 4 amp.

Lesson learned. I guess there are some slight differences between the Yank and Canuk versions!

Slight correction. The turn signal lights work fine. It's the parking light.
