Window tint, DIY or tint shop? 200

Ive done some tint film before. It was a difficult job that I achieved mediocre results with. After eying all seven 245 windows i'v thought about letting someone else do it. Is the film availiable at Pepboys, Advance and etc. as good as the tint shop stuff? Or not worth messing with. Also, what tint % is recommended? I guess that has more to do with local DOT laws though.
