So, As I am replacing the AMM in my wife's 240 (thanks everyone for helping me identify that one!
I had been thinking it was fuel delivery...)...
And I notice the overdrive "up arrow" is now permanently On. I asssume I am having what seems to be a common problem....
What's the best way to troubleshoot this? I understand it's probably one of three things... Broken switch, fried relay, or fried (in one of several ways) solenoid.
What's the best way to troubleshoot this to quickly; identify the real issue and get the Grey Ghost back on the road.
I should note... I had a local independent volvo mechanic recently replace the rear seal and bushing on the transmission - could that have contributed to the problem?
Assuming it does turn out to be the solenoid, how easy of a fix is it? I have ramps, but in terms of getting the old ghost off the ground, that's it. Is this a pretty simple bolt on? Access pretty easy, or is this major issue? Aside from swapping the relay, is there a way to test it?
thanks!
