how to cut fascia for a new hitch 200 1987

I'm installing a drawtite 3000 lb. hitch on our 87 245. I've read several posts about cutting the fascia to get the hitch in. Looks like I might have to cut out the entire rear section of the fascia. I was hoping the whole fascia could be removed to make trimming it easier, but that aint happenin.
Wondering what other folks have done.
