240 DL vs. GL, which to buy? 200

I am looking at a 88 244GL w/219K. The interior and exterior are in nice shape. It drives tight with very little to complain about. My concern is the owner doesn't remember if she has had the timing belt replaced or not. She has some receipts for work, but mostly minor things in the seven years she has owned it. With that many miles, I am hesitant. Is there another way to check to see if the timing belt has been changed? Also, another 89 244DL w/175K is up for sale. It has a salvage title and the owner says it was an accident that did not touch the frame, mostly body work. This car is also in good shape. I am test driving the 89 either Monday or Tuesday. Which one would some of you tend towards purchasing? Both are asking $2500 obo. Thanks for your assistance!
