740 T transmission 700

Need a quick reply pls.

I purchased a good used 4spd with OD transmission for my 1990 740T.

Mechanic just called saying the bellhousing does not have to proper cut out for the speed sensor.

Called the transmission supplier and he says no big deal...just swap bell housings.

Mechanic says he is not comfortable with that 'cause there are shims which can affect how the transmission works...wants the right transmission.

What gives?
