I've ordered an intake/exhaust manifold gasket for my '63 B18D. I've been told not to use any gasket sealer, silicone, etc. Do you agree?

Also, would anyone know what I should be torquing the nuts/bolts to and what the proper sequence when installing them is (ie. inside-to-outside, every-other-one, etc.?
