I'm in the middle of replacing the main engine wiring harness on my 1980 245DL (B21F). The used non-disintegrating Volvo replacement harness I bought matches all the connections on my original harness, but the connections to the starter solenoid give me some worry - on my original harness, the 2 wire connector is yellow w/blue stripe and the single wire connector is brown. On the replacement, the 2 wire connector is brown and the single wire is yellow w/blue stripe. The sizes of the connectors are different - on the original, the 2 wire is the larger and the single wire is smaller. On the replacement, that's reversed. Anyone know what's going on there?
The other question is that there are 4 extra connections on the replacement harness - one is at the alternator loop (green wire w/small connector), one extends beyond the alternator loop (white w/red stripe), and the other two are together on a loop that extends past the starter loop. I'm just going to tape these up out of the way - anyone know what they're for and whether it's going to be a problem leaving them disconnected?
Thanks in advance for the help - I usually stick to non-electrical work, but at 272k/24 years, the original harness finally had to go.
