Coolant leak - is this the end? 200 1980

Just finished replacing the head gasket and main wiring harness on my 1980 245DL (thanks to the advice on the Brickboard for helping me complete the job)...As I went to refill the cooling system before firing it up for the first time in 3 months (long story...), just as I had the system topped up, I heard "drip, drip, drip" onto the paper under the engine. The coolant is coming from the rear of the engine - the exhaust side is dry, the intake side looks dry (at least down to the head gasket), the heater hoses are dry at the firewall. I only replaced the upper heater hose (the bottom one wouldn't budge). The temp sensor and sender fittings on the head are dry too...So I figure the causes could be:

1) I screwed up the head gasket during assembly (quite likely)
2) The metal tube to the lower heater hose is cracked
3) Coolant is leaking from somewhere that I don't know about...

Am I missing something, are there other possibilities?

Stay tuned, there might be a 1980 245DL with lots of brand new parts for sale...The thought of redoing the head gasket makes me want to drive the car into a wall.
