Re: 1995 945 turbo wagon. Lately, the starter only engages for approximately 1 second before stopping and not continuing to turn over the engine. Sometimes, it's enough to start the car. Other times, especially when the engine is hot, it is not enough to start and the procedure of turning the key to the start position is required several times before the engine starts.
The battery has been tested as good under load and is fully charged. The alternator is also good.
I have just done a test by running a temporary wire directly from the battery (positive terminal) to the solenoid terminal. When I touch the terminal, the starter turns the engine FOR AS LONG AS I KEEP THE WIRE CONNECTED. (I did this with no key in the ignition switch to ensure the engine did not start).
The ignition switch seems to work OK (but has not been tested in any way). I have also had some problems with the turn signal relay, and presently the 4-way flashers do not function.
Is there a starter relay inside the car? Where else should one look for a problem with the starting circuitry???
thanks for any help.
