I recently bought a 1991 volvo 940 turbo wagon from my cousin. Its in pretty decent shape, baring one problem. Before I bought it, he had new tires and brakes put on the vehicle as a sort of present to me for purchasing the car. The brakes were installed by a family friend who does some work on volvo's. Anywho, since day one the brakes have pulsated when depressed. It feels SORT of like an ABS systems pulse, but a bit different as well (not as bouncy a pulse, this is more like a rapid, almost achy feeling to the foot). When the car is cold, and I start off, the first time I hit the brakes the peddle is rather high, and difficult to press (though it will depress to normal level) due to a sort of pulsing. There is no grinding when this happens, or at least nothing loud. It does make a sort of unusual sound, though since this is not car talk, I will spear the description, ESPECIALLY when turning while breaking. Generally it gets a bit better as I go, and they do work (you can sort of push through it, if that makes any sense). At times the ABS light goes on, though I am not sure it is related. Brake fluid levels are fine. Slight pull when stopping, but only very slight, and inconsistant. Any ideas on where to start looking?
