radiator expansion tank cap 700 1989

does the cap of the expansion tank need to be replaced
at certain times? is this a time maintaince thing?
having a slight coolant leak and am trying to check
the least expensive first. just replaced the waterpump
and bottom hose. is this a pressure cap of any kind?
