1990 740GL getting terrible mileage, help please! 700 1990

Greetings everyone!

I have a 1990 740GL (auto) with 143,800+ miles at the clock. Had a complete tune-up 2000 miles ago; change oil and filter every 6 months or 3000 miles, last change was one month ago (about 400 miles). Using a Purolator oil filter and Chevron 20W-50 (regular) oil.

I am averaging 14MPG, this is regardless of how lightly I am on the gas or how heavy my foot gets.

At this point I am stuck on what could possibly be causing such poor mileage, and seek your help.

Anything you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated!
