towing a 240 with a 240 for 900 miles? crazy? 200

I recently bought a 84 244 for $400.... its in montana, loooong ways away. I have schedualed 4 days off and my intention is to tow it using a dolly with my 88 240. I am going to put an oil cooler on the 88 and change its vital fluids, belts and such. I will bring a good selection of tools and spare parts. Is this folly? can a 240 tow another? for 900 miles? I also am going to bring spare parts for the car to be towed (it has some issues, but am unsure the extent of it) and work on for part of a day. My hopes are that if 1 car gives out I can switch em! I would feel better if the electronics were compatable for the 2 cars....
what do you think?
