Desperately trying to put in a new mount...

Front is up on jack stands, I managed to remove the old tranny mount by jacking up a bit the tranny and prying out the old mount with a large screw driver, but putting in the new mount is nothing close to the reverse of removing the old one. I have been battling for over an hour trying, and I am ready to give up. I cannot put the new one in. I have jacked up the tranny as much as I possibly can, that won't help. I am jacking it up next to where the mount goes. I can get in the part of the mount which goes agaisnt the tranny, the other side however is nowhere near the whole it is supposed to go in.

Am I doing something wrong?

Any tips or tricks? As a last resort should I remove the small bracket on which the mount is attached to the tranny?
