Number 1 exhaust valve - 87 B230FT 1986

I finally got the opportunity to tear into my engine. The low oil pressure was being cause by the dreaded o-ring on the oil delivery tube. But surprisingly the bearings were is excellent shape.

I am taking the head in to have a broken exhaust manifold stud replaced on the head. When I took out the cam and buckets – I notice that the #1 exhaust valve was covered with carbon. You can feel the play in the valve if you rock the top with your fingers. Clearly need a new guide. Most of the other valves were tight to the feel. The head was rebuilt about 60 Km ago.

Questions. Is this well known for the #1 exhaust valve to wear well before the other??? Should all the guides be replaced – just the exhaust ones???
Should the valve spring be replaced too??

With Thanks
Steve
