Howdy, great forum here!!! I've been reading through the archives, and am still a bit perplexed. I can't seem to get the oil light to go out. I chanced the sensor, and same thing. I had started out using 10/30 oil and at idle it would flicker, and as the speed (rpms) increased, it would go out...OK... So using a bid bit of knowledge from antique tractoring, I put 20/50 oil in as this is almost certain to bring up the pressure in an old farm tractor... Now the oil light never shuts off....(at least the light seems to be doing something) So, now I'm thinking of draining the engine oil, running it for a few minutes with about a gallon of diesel fuel (farm boys engine flush) and starting over, maybe back to 10/30, or 5/20???
Car is a 740 GL, auto, 225,000 miles, plain B230 engine (no turbo, no 16 valve).
Love to hear your thoughts, and if it turns out it's the oil pump (it hasn't blown up yet) how much of a wrestling match is that???
Really, Thanks in advance!
Adam
