Thanks to those who have been helping me sort out my erratic/high idle problems. This is what I get for doing a little basic PM on a nice afternoon!
So basically I have it narrowed down to the idle air valve. When I pinch off the air going to it the idle goes way down, almost stalling but not quite. So I know it's not the throttle body. And sometimes when I do that it starts to actually idle normally afterwards for just a while. It's actually kind of intermittent (it doesn't idle rough, just way too high). Jiggling the connector to the idle valve doesn't effect anything. Can I really have damaged it just by spraying some carb cleaner in it and swabbing the ports out with some Q-tips? This is always what I've done on my other two LH 2.2s with no problem. I can't understand why it's giving me problems, and it's frustrating because I need to get it smogged very soon.
Without having another air valve to swap in there (and I fear that an LH 2.4 IAC might be hard to find in the junkyards here), how do I test to find out if the problem is in the IAC valve itself or with the electrical signals going to it (ECU or associated wiring)?
