fuel and thermo gauges are out...any help??? 200 1983

Hi, my fuel and thermo gauges are out. I checked the fuses and they are fine. What else can I check for? Do I need to take the gauges out? Is this something that is pretty easy to fix with detailed instructions? Any replies would greatly help.
