M41 and J type OD bench test. 120-130

Since I have a M41 laying around and I want to find out the condition of the OD my plan is to rig up a motor (like the ancient one I have turning my grindstone and wire wheels), put the tranny in 4th and then apply 12 V to the solinoid through the lockout switch.
Can anyone tell me why this would not work or offer any advice and/or precautions?
