no idle 200 1983

I own a 1983 240gl 2.3E. It idles rough when cold will not idle when warm, cuts out and will only restart when holding throttle fully down and cranking in short bursts. Also on hot days it may not start at all. I live in Australia so it is an Aus model. If anyone has some ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated Thanks Wal.
