This morning I went to back up and my brakes stuck hard. No previous symptoms, but fortunately this happened in front of my own driveway. It felt like the rear to me for some reason. I got out to look around in hopes of seeing that it was actually a demon holding my tire or something and noticed that the brake lights were on.
I got back in and tried the brake pedal, which felt normal and didn't seem to be stuck down at all. Then with a lot of throttle in first, the car popped free and I was able to pull it back into the driveway. I backed up a little again as a test and it stuck again, though not as hard as before.
I'm assuming first that I have a sticking caliper, but I have not had to deal with the parking brake on my bricks, so I don't know if that could be stuck somehow. First, I guess, I will have to figure out which wheel it is.
My question is what activates the brake lights. I had assumed it was a switch on the pedal, but now wonder if that's right. If not, could the lights being on be a clue to the cause of my lock up ?
Thanks in advance.
