rear axle help, please 200 1992

I have a 92 240, my rear axle broke and when we went to get a new one at the junk yard, they gave me an 86 rear end, the gears and sensor are not a matching set and now my speedometer and odometer don't work properly.
I think that if I get a [electronic speedometer] sensor from an 86 and replace it, things may start to work right.
Does anyone think this would work? Does anyone know of any other way to make it work?

HELP PLEASE!
