This little piggy is crying "wah, wah, wah" all the way home, because some doofus shot out the tailgate glass on our 745, and I neither want to pay for having the glass replaced (no insurance for it) nor swap (repainted) tailgates (which is, of course, more easily said than done).
(Good news: wasn't just targeting us. Bad news: shot up lots of cars in our neighborhood, at mid-day!)
Is it totally stupid of me to even think of using Lexan sheet to relace the gla$$? The UV- and mar-resistant version (MR5?) is expensive. And wouldn't have the defrost wires, nor would it withstand winter ice scraping well. (Answer own question: doesn't look too bright.) Anyone?
I was glad to find advice in the archives, like from Rob Bareiss, from only a month or so ago: "You're better off finding a junkyard hatch and having it painted to match." Just not looking forward to any of the options... including the current one, which is driving around with filament tape further obscuring a very diminished rear view.
Thanks to all!
