What the heck is this? 700 1989

Hey, everyone...while poking around under the hood of the ol' Brick tonight, I found a device I'd never seen before, nor have I any idea what it is. It's located on the corner brace near the firewall on the driver's side; It's a rectangluar black box approximately 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches or so. Taking off the top revealed six numbered holes (with corresponding receptacles in the cap), a button labelled "A", and an LED labelled "B".

What the $@%! am I looking at?
