engine stall/dies 700 1988

'88 740 GLE non turbo wag 240k miles cuts off after 5 or 6 min warmup, thereafter every time it nears idle speed yet restarts immediately.
Was advised to disconnect electronic connector to air mass filter to see if would start. I disconnected connector to air control valve also. It started but idled at 2k rpm so shut off after minute or two.
Reconnected above but NO start. No spark to new plugs; new fuel pump relay, fuel filter and air filter. 10 months ago replaced main fuel pump & fuel pressure reg; power stage 2 yrs ago. TIA.
