Alternator question 700 1985

I have an 85' 740 turbo wagon that needs a new alternator and I have found one at my local U Pick parts yard. First question, can someone tell me if the 85 has a 70 or 80 amp alternator. I ask this cuz the alternator on my 85 looks like it is an 80 amp. Is there a listing on the alternator where it might say since I can't use my voltmeter on it?
The 70 amp has a female connection on the regulator. According to FCP Groton I should have a 70 amp alternator, however my regulator doesn't have the receptor on the back.
I forgot to check on the car at the yard where that connection runs to. Does anybody know?
What would happen if I put on the 70 amp alternator on my vehicle granted I switch out the regulators?

Basically i am looking for a quick fix, even if it is only short term.
I have change the brushes a few times and now the problem lies with the part the brushes rub against. This is what the alternator repair guy says.

Thanks for the help and putting up with my limited knowledge.
