Hi All,
As per title, classic symptom. From all my checking, thinking, testing, it would be due to a poor ability of the condenser to cool the refrigerant, and the heat getting to the rad in traffic. Also, the car still has the stock fan/clutch setup and no aux fan (1989).
The a/c was converted (done properly) by myself last spring with good success.
Still blows cold but only at highway speeds or at not too hot days. When you really need it, it's not that great, hence the condenser issue... Let's assume that my hypothesis is correct abourt the condenser's cooling ability (inability).
The issue now is that I need to install an aux fan. Questions:
Do I put the electric fan in place of the stock fan/clutch ?
Do I put the electric fan in the front of the condenser and leave the stock fan where it is?
Is the electric fan supposed to blow into the condenser to the block, or from the inside to the front of the car? If the stock fan is kept too, I assume they should be blowing in the same direction?
Going to the junkyard, what are good fan candidates for this?
Let me know,
Thanks!
