740 Radio and amp 700 1989

I've reconnected the wires in the dash and hooked up one of the speakers to test, but there's no sound. There's power to the radio, and I'm sure that I've reconnected the magazine and speaker properly (colour-wise). So now I wonder whether the pros who put in the big stereo for the previous owner and ran all of the wires into the back of the car also cut the power to the original amp (which is still under the steering column).

How can I find out whether there is power to the amp?
