I'm (finally!)putting my B-18 back together...
I'm about to install the nut over the camshaft timing gear and now can't remember whether this should be preceded by a lockwasher.
I was careful to keep all parts identified during disassembly (labeled zip-lock bags, etc.) but there is no washer with the camshaft nut. Looking through an old Volvo (factory) parts catalogue there is a lock washer between the camshaft nut and timing gear (identified as part number 191249-2). My dealer says the part is NLA but can't tell me much more.
Looking at the parts diagram in the CVI catalogue (which I think originally came from Volvo parts catalogues) there is no washer illustrated between the nut and timing gear. Also, Phil Singer's excellent article on the V-Classics website goes into detail about getting the timing gear on and the nut into place but does not mention a lock washer.
Is there a lock washer? If so, any suggestions on (really fast) access to one or a suitable substitute? Lastly, loctite under the nut or anti-seize, or neither?
Many, many thanks!
