I have been experiencing some overdrive pop outs over the last month or so. It seems to be very erratic, sometimes popping out and in over a short distance and then not doing anything over a hundred kilometre journey. The overdrive light stays on during all of this and the car always returns to the overdrive condition in the end [until I choose to go out of overdrive, of course!].

I haven't really had a go at it yet but wondered what an initial diagnosis would say.

I will start by cleaning up the fuse and the contacts to the relay, but I have an uneasy sense that this will not solve the problem.

Car runs fine at speeds when not in overdrive.
