Turns out it's an '85, i read the VIN wrong....but two mufflers? 700

Okay, the car is an '85, which means that it's a B230F, which is good. What transmission did those have? AW70L? Also, the dealer said something about emissions tests damaging the transmissions somehow? Anyone know the deal with that? Also, there's muffler problems, the shop said something about there being two mufflers, never heard of that before. Any more info would be appreciated.
