I haven't been posting here much lately. New job with long hours,
and the car has actually been running fine.


I've been running a 92C thermostat with the temperature compensation
board jumpered since the winter, and the car has always run about
a needle width above the dot on the center of the gauge - even in
April, where there were a few muggy 80+ degree days. About a month
and a half ago, I had to change the water pump, because the old
pump was squealing (it wasn't leaking yet). I used a Bosch branded
pump from Pep Boys that I'm not sure of the quality of - it was
a sunday, and I needed to be 150 miles away the next morning.


About a week ago, I noticed that the car's temperature shoots up to
within two needle widths of the red zone after climbing a steep mile-
long hill near my house. This happens even when the outside
temperature is in the low 70s or high 60s. I replaced the thermostat
and changed the coolant, and the problem is still there. Could the
pump that I installed be sub-par? I know that a lot of poor-quality
non-electrical stuff gets sold under the Bosch name.


I'm not losing any coolant, so I don't suspect a leak or a head
gasket problem.
