my voltometer stays steady at about 12.5 to 13.5ish..normal? 200

I just installed a voltometer and it seemingly stays put at halfway which is about 12.5. It sometimes drops a bit to 12 by itself, not dependent on speed. Now i'm wondering if my brushes are going out on me...or possibly a bad alternator. THe car has 204000 miles on it.


btw...a strange thing happens when i press the brakes....the voltometer drops a bit? and when i lift my foot it jumps back to where it was...haha...strange?
